Dave Hill Jr. Releases “The Price of Love,” a Soulful Meditation on Longing, Forgiveness, and Coming Home
Seattle-based singer-songwriter Dave Hill Jr. releases his new single The Price of Love—a stirring ballad that reckons with what we give up, hold onto, and fight for in the name of love.
Rooted in a deep synth bass and a slow-burning acoustic drum groove, The Price of Love channels the spirit of 70s soul ballads in a modern form supported by the lyrical honesty of a confessional poet.
At once intimate and universal, it’s a song for anyone who’s wrestled with the cost of vulnerability.
A Reckoning Wrapped in Melody
“The price of love often looks like pain, but the cost of never dreaming would be a shame,” opens the song, setting the tone for what Hill Jr. describes as “a letter to the parts of us still willing to believe.”
Written in the quiet aftermath of grieving my many losses over the years, this track explores themes of forgiveness, self-confrontation, and recommitment—not only to a partner but to anyone we love and also to oneself. e.g the line: “I’m coming home, even if the lights are out”.
